The idea is something Bose calls “Aware” mode leveraging some smarts called “ActiveSense” which is just a way of saying the earphones can pick up on large noises and adjust the transparency mode of the earphones absorbing you in your own sound as the outside world gets louder before switching back to a full transparency mode It means walking by loud noises.

I am seriously considering a set of QC35 ii’s but one feature that is found on other alternatives is missing Aware / conversation / ambient mode what ever you like to call it! I was reading the Bose comunity forums and found a post that says “You can do this right now just double press and hold the asistant button headphones will go into “conversation mode” while the button is.
